Event 12 Webinar: What does it mean to run your business lean?

Innovation and the ability to make quick business decisions is becoming  more and more of a necessity in the fast-paced world of entrepreneurship. It seems like everyone is talking about “lean” these days, thanks to the success of The Lean Startup by Eric Ries, The Startup Owner’s Manual by Steve Blank and Bob Dorf, and Running Lean by Ash Maurya, among other titles. But what does the term actually mean, and how can it help you build or improve your business?

There are countless books available on the subject and even more resources online, but in this busy season, can you really afford to spend your downtime reading and researching? That’s why Capital Ideas is pleased to be co-hosting a special webinar and live event at The Business Link on Wednesday, December 12th. The webinar will give you a chance to hear from local entrepreneurs who have first-hand experience applying  lean principles to their businesses, giving you the skills to implement these strategies to your own business.

This hour-long panel will cover what lean really means while defining some commonly used terms and concepts, such as minimum viable product, pivoting, vanity metrics, and build-measure-learn. You will also hear examples of Alberta businesses that apply lean principles in strategic ways from our featured guest,  Jas Panesar, the founder of Edmonton’s Lean Startup Circle and a proponent of  lean for both tech startups and bricks-and-mortar businesses.

Participants will receive a package on lean principles, and will have access to a video recording of the presentation for one  month, whether they attend in person or via webinar. Tickets are $20 and do not include lunch.
